Is there an $num or itemnum (item number) tag which can be inserted into the
product template to maintain the search to bookmarking feature of the
default product template?

Inserts the record number of the product. You can use this tag to create
HTML anchor tags to link directly to a specific product, such as
<a name="#[-- PRODUCT.RecordNumber --]">
