Lookout, newbie asking questions.

We currently run *cough* Miva Merchant *cough* for our online store. (Don't
kill us!) :)

We are in the process of completely redesigning and rebuilding our two
online stores, and even though we are happy with Miva we are taking
advantage of the rebuild time to look around at other options to make our
life easier.

I have been reading a lot about the Product Manager by Stone Edge
Technologies. I am VERY interested in both the Product Manager and Order
Manager programs. (maybe even the ECom Assembler) But to run the Product
Manager it requires that we run ShopSite. I am open to switching to Shop
Site, but first I have a few questions.

Has anyone here used any of the three products listed above from Stone Edge,
and if so which one and how do you like it?

What are the big differences between Shop Site Manager and Shop Site Pro? I
looked for a "compare" list on the ShopSite website but did not see one.

I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes on. Thank you for any info
you can provide us.

We have both Product Manager and Order Manager. Although we are just
learning the many features of Order Manager I can strongly recommend Product
Manager. I have been working with it for several weeks. Our site has over
1000 pages on it and all were created using Product Manager as the database.
Editing product and pages is much easier using it than making the changes in
the back office of ShopSite. This is especially true when doing global
changes effecting all of a particular brand or style of product or even
every page. It even has a spell check feature so you can catch page typos
before your clients do. Product Manager enables us to maintain a local
database of all products and pages so we can edit locally before uploading
the changes. Its integration with Order Manager enables complete inventory
management, a client database for easy lookups and marketing, reorder level
control, etc... Tech support has been excellent on both products. Product
Manager and Order Manager are the greatest thing since sliced bread and I
have no idea why anyone would not automatically get both if they have a
ShopSite store.

Robert, first off, I feel your pain....I built a Miva shop and ran it for
about several months. During the time I had it up I spent most of my time on
the phone with tech support at my ISP...Oh I could go on with the horror
stories about third party modules, ISPs, loss of sales, etc...but in any
event, at some point this week my ShopSite will go live.

I did plenty of research before moving over to both a new ISP and ShopSite.
I settled on ShopSite Pro, it had most of the features that I had added via
3rd party modules to Miva.

If you would like, I would be willing to show you via email my two sites
(Miva vs ShopSite) and you can compare..they are both kinda live just via
different links. Our miva site was so badly screwed up that I had to link to
our Yahoo Shop temporarily until we can go live with ShopSite.

There is a list on Lexiconn that does show the different features. The basic
difference with Pro and Manager is that in Pro you have digital coupons, the
ability to create custom pages at least that is what I have learned in the
past few days.

Here is one piece of very good news...If you are running the latest version
of Miva 4.13 or if you download the export products to flat file from
ModStop, your new ISP that runs shop site will be able to export your
products and import them directly into ShopSite...you can of course do this
yourself, however, I was pressed for time and paid to have it done
correctly. Do let your importer know that the Cost field in Miva is not the
pricing that you want in ShopSite. I had a good laugh that my "cost" was
being used for retail. It was fixed in a heartbeat.

BTW.....if you need to change ISP's I can highly recommend Megan and Matt
and Yourhost.com. They were great getting me moved over and I should be back
up and running on Monday!

Robert,

I'm a one person operation who looks like one big slick operation
thanks to OrderManager and Product Manager. If you're doing any kind
of business on the web, it's a must have. It's full of features that
you can't even imagine are available at the price. One little feature
is the personalized email templates which can make your operation
humm. Here's a sample of what you can do with one click of a button.
This email happens to be for an order which includes a drop ship item:

Hi Nathaniel,

Thank you for your order. To give you the speediest
service possible, your in stock items have been shipped.
You also selected made to order items which will be
arriving in a separate package(s).

The total for the items shipped today is $103.80. You
may see multiple Switch Hits charges on your credit
card statement for the multiple shipments. However,
the total of these charges will never exceed your
original order total of $140.80.

We hope you had a good experience at Switch Hits
and we look forward to serving you again.

We have both the Order Manager and the Product Manager. We just got them a
few weeks ago but they have already made our business look 100% more
professional.

We now have the ability to print invoices and packing slips with our logo
and any other text... can enter POS orders in our retail store, can enter
manual phoned orders - all into the same system!

It's great.
