Happy camper ...

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Wed Jun 26, 2002 11:12 am

Hi there,

this is statement of pure happieness ;-) We have just recently upgraded from
Shopsite Pro 4.x to 6.x. Or better Loren did that job for us "over night".

Everything went smootly with minor changes in our settings to be required in
changes of the little different layout of the shopping cart and the checkout
screen. Time to check and make these changes alltogether some 3-5 working
hours.

Stimulated by the new possibilties of v 6.x and the email exchange with
Loren after the upgrade, we have implemented CVV and streamlined our
webdesign (workload = 2 d, where designing new buttons and graphics = 1 d,
11 hrs and 40 min; and implementing these graphics with power edit in 80
pages and 580 products = 20 min) and are now up and running with a "fresher"
and "newer" look with less risk of cc fraud.

During the entire process, even when Loren was updating the shop over night,
there were orders popping in, regardless of the soccer worldcup (and hey, we
are located in Germany and have just reached the final!!!!) and hot summer
weather outside (the pools are calling) or a temporarely "funny" looking
shopping cart for 2-3 hours.

I am feeling very confident now with regard to the next holiday (and
especially) christmas shopping rush this year! Looking at the superbe
upgrade technical support received from Loren (we are hosted by Interland
and they do not support shopsite any longer) on one hand and the 150,- bucks
we paid for that on the other hand, I can only say: This was the best deal
we got during the last 18 months :-) And also the 325,- $ for the upgrade
are well worth it.

If you are running shopsite v 4 or v 5 -> UPGRADE! It is worth it. And I
have seen on the shopsite website that there is a promotion going on for
this giving % off, when upgrading during the summer.

Looking back, I can only say: shopsite was the best investment we ever made
since we started online business in '99 with Shopsite Manager :-)

Niko, your website watersafety.net looks very good. Nice work indeed. I
enjoyed reading your comments. Regarding the PDF format for orders via fax,
that is an interesting idea but I am not sure if it would be useful for my
situation. I advertise on my site in many places that if a customer wants
to order via telephone toll free, to give us a call. Still, almost all of
our orders come from online transaction. I am surprised at how our phone
doesn't ring much. Do you also take orders by phone, and how about the
number of orders you get by fax compared to phone? Thanks for any advice
you can suggest. Good luck to Germany against the talented Brazil team.
