Order Number Starting Point

Postby Jay Guliano » Sat Jun 08, 2002 2:57 am

I am just about to turn on my version 6 ShopSite store. We are switching
from another shopping cart and need to start ShopSite at order number 7000
or so to keep our accounting records straight. Where to you edit the start
point? I have looked everywhere to find that information?

Custom templates link to non-custom question

Postby Kevin Sullivan » Sat Jun 08, 2002 10:48 am

I have a new site with all custom templates. All is OK.

I want to now create a sub-home page, not using custom templates, that is
just a list of the links to any new custom template pages I build. So this
one page page is just a simple page of links.

My problem is that the custom pages will not appear on this non-custom links
page as a link unless I don't use the custom templates to build them. It
seems my custom template that I made turns off (or I took out the code to
allow) the linking ability.

Can I still use my custom template, but also allow this one page of links to
have them listed?

1) Sample of the simple, non custom links page here:

http://www.museumartworks.com/store/museumlinks.html

2) The link does work to this particular page only because this page is
non-custom:

http://www.museumartworks.com/store/mus ... ustom.html

3)
This is a sample of the custom template page that I want the "simple links"
page to link to, but cannot.

http://www.museumartworks.com/store/smith.html

Why? Each time my client adds a new museum, and builds it using the custom
page template, I need a place for the new link to show up to that new museum
page, which is going to be the simple links page.

I will hardcode a link to the simple links page in the custom template so
that will always be accessible. (Not showing yet) but I do not want to
hardcode everytime they add a new museum.

Any help appreciated. Thanks Kevin kevin@vantelweb.com

In the store's data directory there is a file called ordernum. Edit this file
and set the number to one less than the number you want the orders to start
with, i.e. if you want your orders to start at 7000 set the number to 6999.

Kevin,
What does the code for your custom page template look like?
Have you defined the [--DEFINE LINK_TO_PAGE--] section.
Without that section ShopSite won't know how to create links to
the custom pages.
