Shopping Cart "Direct Add" feature

Hi,

One of our most frequent customer requests is a "Quick Entry" box where
they could type an item number or numbers from our catalog in a text
field and have the item entered into their shopping cart automatically,
bypassing the Search function and "Order" buttons altogether. Is this a
feature of any of the newer (post 4.1) versions of Shopsite or does
anyone know any add-on software available for this function. Any
suggestions would be most appreciated.

This could be done with v6 (Pro version only) because it has the ability to
use the SKU of the items to add them to the cart rather than the ShopSite
itemnum. Of course you would need to make your own add to cart form that
gets the sku variable from a text field, and then the shopper would have to
enter the exact SKU (capitalization matters, and spaces and other strange
characters may be escaped, so you would need to experiment) that the product
is assigned in ShopSite in order to get the item in the cart.
