How to get more room in Store Text Shipping fields

I would like to add html to the Preference > Store Text > Shipping fields.
This is to dramatically increase the size and use the shippers colors for
FedEx and USPS EXPRESS mail options so that they will stand out when the
customer goes to the 2nd screen of the Shopping Cart. Sometimes customers
accidentally pick a premium shipping option from the drop down menu without
realizing it or they do not "recalculate" and don't realize what the premium
shipping option costs.

I was able to do this in older versions of ShopSite but versions 5 and 6
limit the size of the fields. Is there a way to get around this so I can
enter both the shipping description and html?
