Tools for Custom Templates/Themes

I have a customer that is bound and determined to use ShopSite since it
comes with his hosting package but compared to other ASP and Perl based
carts that I have implemented it seems less than enjoyable to customize. In
the spirit of implementing this as quickly as possible and not wanting to
learn a proprietary markup language, is there a development tool that can
assist with creating custom templates for ShopSite Pro 5.0 ?

Thanks!
Rick

ShopSite templates are much easier than any other e-commerce system I have
ever used... which includes Miva, PDG, and several free/open source carts.
The ShopSite templates are just HTML templates with special ShopSite tags
inserted. When ShopSite generates the pages it replaces the ShopSite tags
with products, header/footer, search, or text fields.

To see the template we use at 2BigFeet.com dowload the following HTML page
and view the code:

http://www.2bigfeet.com/template.php

There are also product templates and you can have as many custom page and
product templates as you wish.

I'm using 6.0 but was just upgraded from 5. 6 has a special upload section
that allows you to upload your templated via the HTML interface. In 5 you
will probably have to FTP them to the correct directory on your server. You
can call the host and ask them what directory it is.

If you still need help, ShopSite has great instructions in their help
section as well as an example of custom page and product templates:

http://www.shopsite.com/help/5.0/en-US/sc/pro/index.htm

Go to Technical Information>Customizing Shopsite>Custom Templates and Themes

Good luck,

Note that the Custom Template Upload feature is only in ShopSite Pro. Manager
and Starter/Lite custom templates will still need to be ftp'd to the server.

I noticed on your website you use PHP.

How do you integrate PHP with ShopSite?

Thanks...
