Seems like bugs in Shopsite 6.0 Search

Hello,

I just upgraded to 6.0, after many years with 4xx-5xx.

I am very excited with the new features, but I believe there may be several
bugs in product search.

One of the search enhancement main features is the ability to specify that
the "products" will be returned as search results, rather than the "pages"
on which they appear (which we always thought dumb); the link then will take
the customer directly to the product's "more information" page.

When adding a new product, I can specify this on the product's input page by
using the pull down menu on the "search destination" line, selecting
"moreinfo". It seems to work fine.

But I cannot change my 3700 existing items! The poweredit function simply
doesn't make the change- you select "moreinfo" on the pulldown menu, and it
appears to change, but after saving it, the change has not happened.

Also, I need the ability to change all the items at once. If you select more
than one item, and check "Global - same change to all selected products".
the pull-down menu does not appear, and you can't even make a "faux" change.

Has anyone else spent a few frustrating hours with this?

Thanks,

Arthur

I got the same problem. The tech support at our ISP had some
back-and-forth with ShopSite and basically the answer from ShopSite was
that this feature doesn't work properly yet. If you create a new
product, you can assign its Search Make Page status at the time of
creation; once made, you can't change it. As of 6.0.0.2 this is still
broken.

A solution may be to upload the Search Make Page status from a database.
I haven't yet tried this since I haven't had time to restructure our
local db to match the new ShopSite remote db structure.

Fred you can change it, but only through the normal Edit Product Info, not through
PowerEdit at the moment. You can also change it via database upload (as you
mentioned below might be the case).

It will be fixed for PowerEdit soon.
