Shipping

This is probably out there but I will ask anyway. I have Shopsite 6, I want
to keep free ground shipping on all orders totalling $60.00 or more, but
want to offer 1, 2, and 3 day air by way of UPS as an additional charge. Is
this possible?

Add header/footer to cart and checkout pages-where?

Hi,

I first must say that I am very pleased with the custom templates system
written into Shopsite. Good work!

1) How can I add a header and footer into the cart and checkout pages? I
know it is in there somewhere, but I can't find it!

2) I used the custom product template sample for 2 columns to make the
products appear 2 across. It worked fine. I then added more tables to make
shopsite elements align more the way I wanted. But each time I add tables
around the existing template code, the products double going across and also
begin to misalign.

Can I make a product template from scratch by just inserting the custom
template tags, or must I use the sample as it has some code I need? And of
course that ties into the page custom template, correct.

I think I am confused about 2 things:

A) the difference between custom tags vs custom templates vs smart tags. (
I do not want to use smart tags now and think I do understand them).

B) The relationship between custom page templates 1 col vs 2 col used with
custom product templates, 1 and 2 column, etc.

The custom page I made via the 2 col template is here. I have navigation on
the left, then need products to go 2 across. The navigation is hard coded,
so not using shopsite.

I just wanted the left product column (image and text) to flow to center a
bit on a wider screen to make it look nicer. You see the right columns
separate from the left off center. So I added tables I know will do it for
me in my custom template, but then page goes crazy.

I made the More Info Page section of the custom product template come out
just as I wanted. Thanks to Jim from switchhits.com as I liked your clean
"style" of a ore info page so I used some of your design ideas. I hope you
don't mind. The more info page is here:

Select Commerce Setup >> Order System to access fields for cart
header/footers and messages.

Kevin,
The help shows a custom 2 columm product template but it really isn't,
The number of columns is determined by the page template. The only
thing about the sample 2 column prodct template that makes it relate to
the 2 column page template is that it shows how to pass a page field to
a product template using

[--VAR.TEXT2 PAGE.Text2 --]

to set the variable in the page template and

[-- IF VAR.text2 --]
[-- VAR.text2 --]<br>
[--END_IF--]

to use the VAR.text2 field in the product template.
It is kind of misleading and I'll see if I can get the example cleared
up a little.

You can make a template from scratch as long as you follow the correct
syntax. In fact I made a custom product template the other day to create
a lay out for a picture directory that I am going to be putting on a
CD. Since it was just for names, pictures, phonenumber and room. I used
various fields of the product to represent those values and left out
most of the stuff like order buttons, checks for font, alignment etc.
I also created a simple moreinfo page showing a larger image,
birthdate, email address, home address etc. Since I know exactly what
is going on the page and what is in the product I could eliminate much
of the If...end if checking that might be necessary if each product
could have variable content.

One thing I have found very useful is to run the finished html (after a
generate) through the html checker at
http://www.htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/ to make sure there aren't
missing tags or nesting problems that would cause display problems.
This may help you pinpoint why your alignment gets off.
