Referrer Site On Orders

Postby Norman » Mon Oct 22, 2001 9:37 am

One thing that I would like to see in ShopSite is the addition of the
referrer site on the order. I basically have been giving a part of an
associate code to sites that I pay to be on. This strategy stamps the
site that the order came from on the order in the same way that it would
an associate. However, I am meeting increasing resistance to my strategy
from pay sites. It would be invaluable if ShopSite could move towards
automatically stamping the information on the order. I used to run a
Yahoo store and most orders had the site the customer had come from to
get to my store as well as search terms that he/she had used (when
appropriate) automatically stamped on the order. This is just invaluable
to know when you are paying to be on a site. How many people are
actually buying and how much they are spending are a far more effective
method of judging the success or lack of success of an ad campaign then
how many people are clicking over, how may times your ad is appearing,
etc.

I agree! This would be a great ShopSite enhancement.

I *totally* agree !

We desperately need to know the referrer's URL
with each order. And it needs to be downloadable
too in the orders CSV file.

I go further - if we cant get to store this information
we may have to (reluctantly) abandon shopsite
altogether !

We are having problems with goto.com who dont
like using ShopSite's affiliate links because it
acts like META REFRESH / redirection code when
in a browser (ie it stops users reversing back out
of a site).

It seems to me that what we *really* need
is to be able to load up a static web page
in to Shopsite for it to display directly, (ie without any
"redirection") and for Shopsite to log the referrer's URL
(using a cookie if necessary!)

[ BTW, in three years we have now taken over US$ 570,000
in orders through ShopSite - can anyone beat that?! ]

Hi,

I totally agree with you, in over 4 years using shopsite on one of our
stores, we have done a few million in sales. Even know we have to use
this outdated affiliate program, that we have been bitching about for
years.. A little simple code, and they could of fixed this along time
ago, and had 24/7 real time stats for the webmaster and for the
affiliates.

Thanks
