COD payment option

Is there any way to add an additional charge to a certian payment option? We
are getting COD orders, which cost 6$ extra, but how do you add that fee to
a specific payment type? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

In Shopsite Pro, go to Commerce setup --> order system. There you will have the
option of adding a "surcharge text" and "surcharge pull-down menus". In the
pull-down just put something like:

C.O.D.(48 States)
C.O.D. : $6.00; +6.00

That should create a pulldown that they would have to select but most people who
order COD expect something like that and you can explain it in the "Surcharge
Text". Hope this helps

Just a caution. When we started our Web business in 1994, we offered the
COD payment option. We found a significant number of recipients refused
the package when delivered and we ended up not recouping the $6 we paid
the Postal Service. We stopped offering the COD payment option after awhile.

We continue to offer check payment (as well as credit cards) and find
about 25% don't send their checks. Except for having reserved their
audiobooks waiting for their check, we are not out any dollars if they
don't send their checks.

Same here. Our customers wouldn't even consider paying for the COD service if the
other shipping option are cheaper. Not worth the trouble,
