VeriSign, CyberCash, Authorize.net or ClickPay?

Postby Larry Bohen » Mon Oct 15, 2001 5:05 pm

We currently use a manual swipe terminal to authorize and charge
customer's credit cards. We have be told by our clearinghouse (NOVA)
that we must implement by 11/4/2001, a credit card process that includes
an Electronic Commerce Indicator (ECI). To do this we must purchase a
new swipe terminal, install PC software or use a payment gateway.

ShopSite SC Pro currently supports VeriSign Payment Services, CyberCash,
Authorize.Net and ClickPay.

I'd like comments and recommendations about any or all of these solutions.

Thanks

Hello,

We have been using Verisign for 4 years with no problem until the last 3
months when they have been down 4 different times. Each time they were back
up within an hour. When they go down we switch our payment to "manual" and
this way the orders still come through. I'm not sure why all of a sudden
they have been having problems. You might want to compare this info with
comments you get from others on the other services.

We have been using Authorize.Net for about 1.5 years and are happy with it.
One of the great things is its flexibility. It has a direct link with
ShopSite for real time processing. Also, for credits and adjustments it has a
separate online manual terminal. Also we have customers that on occasion have
to pay an invoice. Using html for forms you can set up a direct link into it
so the customer can go to a web page and pay an invoice.

I'm also pretty happy with Authorize.net, especially since StoneEdge Order
Manager integrates with it so I hardly spend any time processing orders,
returns, credits, etc--Barney has it all automated with a click or two.
Also, they seem to be a fairly small enough operation so if you get their
800 number, and don't mind being on hold for a short bit, you get VERY
personalized service.

Just to clarify Jimmy's remarks -

The Stone Edge Order Manager for ShopSite now supports both Verisign and
Authorize.Net. It can be used to capture payments that are pre-authorized in
ShopSite. It also has a "virtual terminal" on its View Orders screen where
you can process other transactions: pre-authorizations, captures, sales,
credits and voids, all without having to re-type account numbers, etc. All
of this works with your regular Verisign or Authorize.Net account. It
requires an open line to the Internet (DSL, cable modem or an open dial-up
connection) and is very fast.

If you are processing more than 10 or 15 orders per day, and you are still
handling everything manually, you really should check out the Order Manager,
especially with the holiday season approaching. As some of our users have
pointed out on this forum, it can be a huge time-saver.

For more information about the Order Manager, go to:

Larry,
We switched to Nova but there system does not work with all PC Software. We
were using IC Verify but cannot use it with NOVA. Nova have their own PC
Transact IT which we have had to purchase and are currently installing.
Also I do not believe that NOVA will work with all payment gateways - they
also have their own.
Richard.
