This May Affect Your Customers Who Have Firewalls - Prevloca

As you recall from previous messages, about a month ago, I upgraded my
browser and added Norton Personal Firewall (NPF) to one of my
computers. Suddenly the ShopSite shopping cart was not working properly
on the one computer. Basically, when you added an item to it and
clicked on Return to Shopping, it took you to the wrong page. I need
for customers to go to the last page that they came from. It was
attempting to take the customer to the index page of the site which is
about 2 levels up on my site. Today I am happy to say that the problem
has been solved. I visited an unrelated site that put up a detailed
error message. I suddenly realized that the message applied to
ShopSite. When you install NPF, it by default blocks the referer page
information from being sent to ShopSite so there is no way for the
ShopSite shopping cart (Prevlocation variable) to know where the
customer came from. I was able to get detailed information from the
Symantec website (url below) on how to change the configuration in my
firewall so my store is working again. I guess what you need to know is
that if a customer complains about something like the above happening,
be sure and ask if he/she has a firewall. It may be blocking critical
information from being sent to ShopSite.

Direct Link to Detailed Instructions. This recommends changing per
site. I changed the default for all sites. Symantec claims that this
is a privacy issue but it seems like a pretty weak one to me.
