Holiday Season Jitters

I live in New Orleans where we love to eat...appetizers, salads, main
courses, dessert, chicory coffee, and not unusual to have different wines
for each course. Imagine if you will, you're in a restaurant, eagerly
anticipating a great meal, waiting, and waiting, and waiting and then the
waiter brings every course to the table at once. Overwhelming.

I know all of us ShopSite users are anxiously awaiting the new release full
of these features that we keep hearing about. However, the Holiday shopping
season approaches faster than you can imagine and I'm afraid we're not going
to have enough time to implement all these new ShopSite features so
merchants and shoppers can take advantage of them. The more lead time we
have, the better. It's just not going to be the same this shopping season
if we have to jam at the last minute working on our site and taking care of
our customers at the same time. Personally, I'd rather see the new ShopSite
version come out sooner than later and then get periodic updates. Think
about that great meal as our holiday shopping season -- it just doesn't
taste the same when it comes all at once.

And then take StoneEdge's approach with products such as Order Manager,
where every few weeks we get an updated version. We take some time to study
the new features, implement them and go about our business -- the same way a
fine restaurant works -- meal courses and updates have the same
relationship. And it seems to work very well, at least for this merchant.

I know for sure there is one new ShopSite feature that my customers not only
want, but really need and that feature will take some time to get up and
running. How about throwing us a carrot or two while we wait for the meat
and potatoes?

Thanks.

I agree! We are already starting to see folks ordering for the holiday
season. We know this because they tell us and/or ask if our guarantee
practices extend until after the holidays.

I too like Barney Stone's approach of releasing enhancements in smaller
increments.

Couldn't agree more .. also add 2-4 weeks to the lead time for the ISPs to test
any new major release,

p.s. Tip for the Christmas season: create a special "Holiday Theme" custom
template and with one fellow publishing swoop your entire catalog will appear in
its new look! Bon Apetit!

It is almost the beginning of November and not a peep from ShopSite
regarding when they plan on releasing their next upgrade. I expect by
now they know what features they plan to add/change/delete. I sure would
like to know:

1. When the next release will be?
2. What features will be added/changed/deleted?

Thanks
