Major Netscape 6.1 Disruption

Postby Norman » Wed Sep 26, 2001 11:53 am

Hello,
I have upgraded my version of Netscape to Version 6.1 and added a
firewall (Norton Personal Firewall). For some reason this has partially
disrupted the functioning of the ShopSite shopping cart in my store on
the computer that I upgraded on only. I am mainly going into this as a
warning. I don't know which caused the problems but here is what I have
done. I have removed Netscape 6.1 and reinstalled my old version 4.7.
Things are still not working properly. When I add something in the
shopping cart and hit the button to continue shopping or the button to
empty the cart, I am taken to the wrong page. I have checked the
prelocation hidden variable in the code and it has the wrong page
listed. The shopping cart is configured to have the shopper taken to
the previous page that he/she was on; I have double checked. My main
page is http://www.web8.com/ocean ; however, the prelocation variable
lists the page http://www.web8.com/ShopSite/index.html which is not used
on my site. Clueless as to what might cause this. This also happens with
Internet Explorer. I also have dialup access through AOL on the
computer. The AOL browser also sends one to the wrong page. I have also
had trouble with other unrelated sites. I don't know what the
prevlocation variable is stored in while someone is shopping in a store
but something has gone wrong. I also have a totally separate computer
which I did not upgrade. The shopping cart works correctly on it when I
access the store through it.
I hope that everyone that upgrades to Netscape 6.1 is not going to
have this problem as this will horribly inconvenience customers. Has
anyone heard about this happening? I have ShopSite Pro 4.3 running.
