VeriSign notice

Postby loren_d_c » Tue Jul 31, 2001 9:00 am

We received this from VeriSign yesterday, maybe all VeriSign users did
too, but I thought I'd post it here anyway. I don't think it would
affect any ShopSite merchants since every one I have ever seen is using
a domain name rather than an IP address, so it should be seamless as
long as they leave their gateway up at the old location until all your
DNS servers have had a chance to update the domain names to the new
location.

Dear Valued Customer,

VeriSign is in the process of moving its services to a new data
center location. For Payflow Pro, Payflow Link, Manager, and other
payment services and applications, this move will be happening
during the period of August 13th to August 17th. For most
customers, this service transition will be seamless, but you may be
affected if your configuration restricts access to certain VeriSign
IPs/network addresses.

In order to minimize any impact to you of this transition, VeriSign
recommends that you verify that your configurations are able to
reach this new network architecture before the transition begins on
August 13. Typically, any access restrictions you might have would
be provided by firewall rules or router access control lists which
limit access to specified Internet site addresses. Also, if you use
specific network addresses rather than using the recommended domain
name service (DNS) resolution (e.g. p yflow.verisign.com) to access
VeriSign services, you will need to use DNS to avoid any impact to
your service. The new address range is 216.168.252.0/22.

Please note that as of August 18th the servers will have been
migrated and you will no longer be able to access old IP addresses.
We strongly advise against using static IP addresses, especially
since our disaster recovery protocols would require failover to a
different network with a different IP address range with little or
no advance notice.

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause for you. Please
contact our customer service organization if you require any
additional information on this transition. VeriSign customer
service can be reached at:

Thank you,
VeriSign Payment Services
