Partially Missing Page in Netscape

Postby Tink Boord-Dill » Fri Mar 15, 2002 7:03 am

I just discovered this and I'm stumped!

http://mscanvashouse.com/shop/thread_list4.html

I'm only getting the Text1 section on this page in Netscape.

The entire page including store items are visible in IE and Opera.

Any suggestions I can offer to the tech support folks at my IHP?

Thanks,
Tink

Yes, run the page through an HTML checker, it will most likely tell you
that you have mismatched table tags, in other words you started a TABLE
or a TR or a TD somewhere, and there is no matching ending tags for
them.

IE is more forgiving of bad HTML, so if you were to do you main
development in Netscape (I would recommend the latest 4.x version) and
your pages look good in Netscape, then they are probably going to look
good in the other browsers.

I would bet this is a typo in your html code for the page; therefore, I
would double check the code. Also run it through a html code checker.

Thanks for the help! Can anyone recommend an HTML Checker I can download?

I'm starting an Online HTML class (I've been using FP) but would prefer to
fix this a bit sooner. ;-)

Try one online at http://watson.addy.com/ Since this page has relatively
complex table code, you might also want to just redo it rather than try to
repair it. It you do want to try to repair it, if you have a page that
contains the same tablet elements and works, you might want to print out the
code for both and compare them. The Tablet elements that are different are
probably what is wrong in the problem page.

Thanks! I'll check it out. The problem must be in the code for one of the
products, since the page Text 1, 2 and 3 were all cut and paste and the other
pages are OK.. This will give me a place start.

Once again, thanks for the prompt help!

Got it! Thank you everybody. With your suggestions and guidance I figured
it out relatively painlessly. Meanwhile, I've signed up for the HTML
course! *VBG*
