These Features in ShopSite Pro V6?

Postby Larry Bohen » Tue Feb 12, 2002 1:38 am

I've reviewed the new features list of V6, but didn't see mention of the
following high priority suggested improvements:

1. Limiting the number of product on a page with [Back] and [Next] buttons
together with 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on for the number of pages.

2. In the search results list, hyperlinking to the " More Info Page" for
each item in the list

3. Allow cross/upsell on a product's "More Info Page"

I would appreciate knowing if these items are implemented in V6.

Thanks

1. This is not directly implemented. We are looking at a way that it
could possibly be done using custom templates through use of the CALL
tag.

2. Yes. See Search Destinations on
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.0/en-US/ ... oduct.html for
documentation.

3. Using the standard template I created a more info page and the
subproducts/cross sell items were displayed on that page.

3. This has always worked in ShopSite except in Custom Templates.

Unfortunately I use _only_ custom templates for the More Info... pages.
Is it going to be possible to include cross/upsell in custom More Info
templates in V.6?

Fred -

If you want complete control over your custom pages, including all 3 of
Larry Bohen's requests, plus much more, check out the Stone Edge ECom
Assembler at: http://stoneedge.com/ecomassembler.htm

A few other features of the ECom Assembler:

* Automatically generated drop-down lists, such as all other pages where the
current product appears, other groups of products in the same sub-category,
or an arbitrary list of related pages. Even drop-down lists based on SQL
statements, for your own special needs.

* Custom fields (e.g. Manufacturer, Designer, Distributor, Region, etc.)
that you can name, populate, and insert in your page templates.

* Lists of features, included items, warranty terms, etc. that can be
formatted and inserted in your templates.

* Short and Long Description fields.

* Multiple columns per page: specify number of columns and rows;
automatically generates additional pages as needed, with next and previous
page buttons and "1 to 15 of 37", etc.

* Works with Smart Tags, Order Anywhere tags or the new SKU-based Order
Anywhere tags (which were included in ShopSite 6 at our urging)

* Site portability: Since the ECom Assembler can be easily modified to work
with any shopping cart system that has the equivalent of Order Anywhere
tags, you can use the same product database to generate static pages for
almost any shopping cart!

* Custom modifications available promptly and inexpensively.
