ShopSite, Inc. would like your feedback on our forthcoming release. We have
a limited number of stores on our test server that we will make available to
our loyal merchants.

If you are interested in a preview store e-mail preview@shopsite.com. You
will then receive an e-mail which you will need to respond to before you get
the store. You will basically be agreeing to not talk about the preview
store until after we have officially announced the forthcoming release.

Depending on the response to this offer we may need to limit the number of
merchants that get a preview store. If that is the case we will probably
allocate stores first to those that have previously contributed to the news
group (hey, there is a reward for helping your fellow merchants out!).

Hi,

1) I downloaded a product database from my existing shopsite manager 5.0.
2) I then opened the database in excell, then changed the database in these
4 columns to the new information. I only use name, price, sku and option
text (for option pulldowns) in my products database. All other columns were
left untouched.

3) I uploaded to a completely brand new store that has the latest Pro
version installed. Just 97 items as a test using the same shopsite headers
I downloaded from my other store.

4) after 14 products were uploaded, I get this error message below. And Yet
when I look at the excell page, it appears all the columbs have the exact
same thing and the "companion ring" it is referring to appears the same as
the first 14 items accepted. So why did the first 14 work and then it
stops?

5) Also, if I am only using 4 fields (name, sku,price and option), do I
even need to upload all those other fields. Would that help? Can I select
ignore on all other fields so only 4 are uploaded? Lastly, if there is no
value in a column, is that OK.

Hi Group,

I was able to resolve this problem by adding the value of 0 to the final
column. The test worked fine after that.

The problem is an Excel bug. If there is nothing in the last column or last few
columns, after a while it will start leaving off the tabs for those last fields
in the exported tab-delimited file.

If you are only using 4 fields, then using the Ignore for the other fields won't
work, the file will still have the incorrect number of tabs and you will get the
error message from ShopSite. To only upload four fields, before your save the
excel file, delete all the other columns that you are not interested in. That
way when it saves out it only has the fields you want to use.

Another trick is to move a column that always has information in it, like Price,
to be the last column in Excel, that way when it exports the spreadsheet to
tab-delimited format it won't skip any tabs.

Or, don't use Excel, use Quattro Pro, I doubt it has the same problems, it is a
better program.

Hi Kevin,

Also, I have found that if I am using a field with nothing in it, rather
than leave it empty, I put <empty> in it. That way, you have information in
the field without entering a value you may not want.
