order anywhere: is the a price code

Postby wizard of wood » Thu Oct 25, 2001 11:17 am

I design my own pages and insert the order anywhere code to the add to cart
function, ... I type in the price of the item in standard HTML. I'm
wondering if shopsite has a code for the price that would insert it
automatically.. That would eliminate the need to manually change the price
and have it updated when the shopsite data base is updated.

Thanks for any and all help,

Karen

Not when using OrderAnywhere.

ShopSite features like Custom Pages and Customer Templates would do this,
though. For Custom Pages, you basically create your HTML page, put in the
ShopSite SmartHTML tags, and then put the page into a directory called
'smarthtml' under the ShopSite output directory. Then when you change the price
you can hit the ShopSite Publish tab and it will parse your HTML, find the
ShopSite tags, and replace them with the information from the database and then
place the completed file in the output directory.

Here is the Help link for Custom Pages (note that Custom Pages is a Pro-only
feature, it is not in Manager):

Custom Templates allows you to create an html file to be used as a template for
ALL of your pages created in the ShopSite interface (Custom Pages is 1-to-1,
while a Custom Template is more complex but can be used for many pages). This
way you can have your complete look and feel yet use the database-driven page
generation and add and remove products from pages, and create new pages easily,
all through the ShopSite UI.

Here is the Help link for the Custom Template feature (in all levels of
ShopSite):

When you are using OrderAnywhere you are pretty much on your own as far as the
rest of the contents of the pages you place the Add to Cart and View Cart
buttons on.
