populate "in these pages" field for product database downloa

Postby Ellen Doran » Sun Jan 11, 2004 10:06 am

All versions of Shopsite I've used do NOT populate the "in these pages"
field when I download the database from the server. This makes things
fairly complicated if I want to download a complete product listing, make a
global change that can't be done on the server, and re-upload...or even if I
want to download all the products to keep a local copy of my database.

Is there a command-line way to obtain this information, or could this be a
feature request? I've never understood the logic behind not populating this
field, but in the page database download populating a field that lists
products. Sure, I know I could write a parser to rearrange the data but
that shouldn't be necessary--it should be a fairly obvious product feature.

The logic is that this field does not actually exist in the products
database. The link between pages and products is in the pages database.

If you download the pages you will note that the field titled "Link
Products" does contain the products that are on that page. The "In These
Pages" field label is included (although the column is always empty) in
the products download file because it can be used on upload to place a
product in a page.

If you download both pages and products databases you will have a
complete picture of the ShopSite pages and products, and if you have to
recreate the pages and products using these files for any reason, you
should upload products first, then pages (which will contain the field
required to link the products to pages).
