Authorize.net & Invoice Number

Postby David Clarke » Sun Dec 07, 2003 2:45 pm

Is there any to pass the invoice number to Authorize.net?
I know they accept it but I don't think ShopSite is sending it.

David,
There is no invoice number assigned to an order until after the
confirmation comes back from Authorize.net. If they don't authorize the
transaction the order cannot be completed so no invoice number is
needed. They do provide a transaction id that is included on the order
when it is completed.

If a new invoice number were assigned every time someone tried to place
an order, when a transaction was denied by the payment gateway there
would be a gap in the invoice numbers you see in the backoffice which
would lead the merchant to think that they were missing orders.

If you use the Stone Edge Order Manager for ShopSite
(www.StoneEdge.com/OrderManager.htm), the Order Manager will send its
invoice number, plus a lot of other data about each order to Authorize.net.
That can be a big help when trying to reconcile your monthly account
statements.

Just one more feature of using the Order Manager!

BTW - The price of the Order Manager will increase from $595 to $995 on
December 15th, so if anyone is interested, you should not delay ordering it!
