Custom Product Template

Postby Skyvision » Fri Oct 24, 2003 7:33 am

I'd like to create a simple custom product template much like the one I
created for custom pages. With customer pages, I did a very basic template
using the [--Loop Products--] [--Product--][--End_Loop Products--] tags in a
table of my design. This way all the product information was pulled from the
Shopsite. I'd like to do the same type of template for products. I don't
wish to change the information or how it appears, just create different
layout on the page with the use of a table. Is there a way to do this
without having to write tags for every piece of information I want displayed
with the product? I'm a beginner in creating custom templates and would
appreciate any help someone might offer.

I am working on my first custom template also. I don't believe that you can
write the template without putting a tag for each field that you wish for
the product. However, you might check out the sample template under the
help menu that uses a table and see if you can just modify it.

Is there a way to start with the HTML of the standard pages and then
customize?

I haven't attempted a page template yet. However, that is exactly what I
did for my product template. I studied the source code for the page with
the products on it to see how each product was arranged in html and the
example product template. I was then able, with experimentation, to get the
shopsite custom fields organized to make the product appear like I wanted
it.
