FTP to sample shops?

Hi - not sure if this is the right place to put this question...

I'm playing with the 24 hour samples shops before I purchase, just to make
sure I can do all the little tricks I need to do to get my shop running
quickly once I start paying monthly for it.

I'd like to be able to FTP connect to one of these shops, primarily so I can
download and have a look at the template files, and tweak and upload one (as
a new template). I've tried connecting to ftp.shopsite.com and specifying
the sample shop's username and password (and anon, and various other things)
but they all fail.

So, is FTP only supported by partners and not by shopsite themselves? Or
just not on the sample shops? Or am I typing the wrong thing?

FTP isn't supported on the demo stores.
