Discover Card to Charge New Fees

Effective 11/1/02, Discover Card will be charging several new fees for
"submission errors" such as:

1. missing Card Verification Value (CVV) data - $ .50 per error
2. AVS not obtained for transactions over the Internet - $ .50 per error

These new fees are motivating us to review whether we want to continue
accepting Discover (not a large portion of our credit card sales) and
particularly if we want to implement the requirement for our CC customers to
fill-in their 3 or 4 digit CVV information when placing an order. We have
not implemented the CVV requirement because of confusion concerns.

I'd like to know (for those who have implemented the requirement for CVV
data) what impact it has had?

NOTE: We use ShopSite SC Pro V6.1.1 and are aware of the CVV link explaining
what it is to customers.

Hi Larry,

with implementation of CVV and explanation why it is necessary (fraud
protection) our sales did increase
