Excluding first item in Drop Down State List.

Postby Flatlander » Tue Oct 15, 2002 9:59 am

I started using the Drop Down list for selecting the State for the shipping
and billing address. I set the drop down list to display "Select a State"
as the top choice so it would display in the drop down window.
Unfortunately about 1 to 2 % of the customers miss this and ShopSite accepts
it as the state in their billing and/or shipping address. Does ShopSite
have or does it plan to have a "Disallow Top Choice" Option for drop down
menus so that the customer would receive and error message and go back and
choose a state?

I am using ShopSite® SC Pro 6.1.1 on a Linux Server.

Thanks,

Wayne

It does. Check out the 6.1 help page for the help page for the States
andCountries screen at:
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.1/en-US/ ... untry.html

Basically, it says if you put a ;n after any particular option (the 'select a
state' option, for example) then that won't be recognized as a valid choice and
the shopper will get an error message telling them to make a valid select.

I believe this ;n is there by default in new ShopSite v6.1x , so you probably
upgraded from an earlier v6.x version which did not have this option so you have
to add it yourself.
