Problem with the way coupons are applied to orders

Postby Stephanie » Wed Sep 11, 2002 8:21 am

I was playing around with the coupons to see how they worked and how they
are applied in the shopping cart and I ran into a problem. I issued a
$20.00 coupon that was good on the entire order and had no minimum cart
value. I placed a test order for a $19.95 item. The sales tax was $1.65
and shipping $4.95, making the grand total $26.55. The coupon was not
applied because the net total (before sales tax and shipping) was less than
the $20.00 coupon value. Is there any way to allow coupons to be applied
based on the total cart value and not the net product total?

We want to use the coupons as gift certificates and don't want to alienate
our customers by forcing them to buy a minimum of 2 items to use a $20 gift
certificate (our least expensive item is $14.95). Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Stephanie,
Currently there is no way to configure ShopSite to apply the coupon to the
total instead of subtotal.
I'll add an enhancement request for consideration in a future version.

Thanks Jim. It would be nice to have the option to choose either the net
total or grand total, so each store can do as they see fit.
