We have just upgraded from ShopSite SC Manager 4.3 to 6.1 and are in the
process of switching hosts from Interland to LexiConn. The suggestions
below combine long standing wishes as well as a few things I noticed
since the upgrade.
I have already posted this list to ShopSite's "Suggest An Enhancement"
page at http://www.shopsite.com/help/contact/enhancement.html but I
wanted to see if any other users also had thoughts on these suggestions.
SELECT PAYMENT TYPE DROP-DOWN BOX
I was happy to see this box added to the Billing Page with the customers
credit card entry fields. However, the fact that it also still appears
on the Shopping Cart page is confusing. We really need to be able to
turn it off on the Shopping Cart page.
USE SEPARATE SHIPPING ADDRESS CHECK BOX AND BUTTON
The check box on the Shopping Cart page and the new corresponding button
on the Billing Page (in case customers forget to check the box) is still
overly complicated. Couldn't ShopSite just do away with the checkbox
and button entirely, display BOTH addresses on the Billing page, and
have the first line in the Shipping address default to "Same as Billing
Address"? Then the customer can change the shipping address or accept
the default. SIMPLER IS BETTER.
MULTIPLE SHIPPING ADDRESSES
Can ShopSite be enhanced to handle multiple shipping addresses for a
single order? We sell cookies and process our orders manually. Our
customers prefer to order several boxes at once, ship them to two or
more addresses, enter their billing info one time, and receive one
order. Currently, ShopSite forces them to enter a separate order for
each shipping address.
ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS BOX
This box appears to have a limit of 900 characters. Can ShopSite remove
this limit or at least increase it? We instruct our customers to use
this box to enter multiple shipping addresses and it just barely handles
three addresses and associated data. This is a workaround we've adopted
due to ShopSite's single shipping address limit.
COMMENTS/MORE INSTRUCTIONS BOX
ShopSite saves the text from this box in the customer's cookie. We have
had to stop using this box because customers used it for additional
ordering instructions instead of backing up to the Ordering Instructions
box on the Shopping Cart page. These comments / instructions would then
show up on subsequent orders when ShopSite fills in this box from the
cookie. Apparently our customers aren't intelligent enough to recognize
old comments/instructions and delete the text. Can this text be removed
from the cookie?
