HELP! Can\'t change the shopsite password

Postby Guest » Sun Aug 04, 2002 6:58 pm

I am desperately trying to change the main shopsite password using "Change
Password" utility, but I keep getting the following error message: "The old
passwords didn't match!"

I am entering the correct password and I cannot understand why it does not
work. I called Verio tech support but the tech person admitted that he does
not know how to fix this problem and that Verio only guaranties that their
hosting service will be UP but they do not support third party applications.
??? Also, I do not know if this can help at all, but our original ISP was
Best and they were later acquired by Verio...

Does anyone have any idea why I cannot change the current password? Any
help is greatly appreciated.

ShopSite uses the Web server's password mechanism. If a password is changed
outside of ShopSite (via a webserver utility) ShopSite may not be able to
recognize the old encrypted password when it does its check before allowing
the change. Have Verio support escalate the issue to contact ShopSite
support and ShopSite should then be able to help them force the password to
be updated.

The other option is to have Verio use their web server utilities to change
the password for you (thus by-passing ShopSite's changing of it.) Basically
they update the .htpasswd file instead of having ShopSite do it.
