PayPal and ShopSite

Postby Beauty Cafe » Sun Jul 07, 2002 6:12 pm

I'm currently looking for a new shopping cart. I do offline manual card
processing. However, I also accept checks via mail, payment by credit card
via fax and PayPal. I wasn't able to find out if I can accept PayPal using
ShopSite. If someone could just let me know if it works with this cart, that
would be great!! Thank you!!

Lisa,

ShopSite has two configurable payment typoes called Generic Payment Options that
you can configure and call them anything you want. They will not do any
real-time integration, but basically they will show up in the shopping cart as
another payment option, with whatever name you set, and with up to 4 fields that
you can name whatever you want.

So you can name one PayPal, and then have one field named 'PayPal account name
(email address)' or something like that then you can bill them via PayPal and
then they would go to PayPal and pay the bill. Or you can have no fields in
ShopSite and make the name of the payment option something like 'PayPal: please
go to www.paypal.com and pay the Total amount to [your email address]'.

I am having a little difficulty visualizing this, so I have a couple more
questions to ask.

1. If the client is directed to go to PayPal to pay the bill, how will
PayPal know how much the bill is and who the merchant is.

2. If you used the option to pay them through Pay Pal, how does that work?
They finish shopping - they can see what they have ordered, including the
prices with tax and shipping, etc. And then the Shop Site store owner would
send them a link to PayPal that would have their total?

1. PayPal would not automatically know how much to bill and whom to pay. The shopper
would have to enter that information.

2. You, the merchant, can send a PayPal bill to anyone for any amount. PayPal will
notify them of the request for payment and they would then login to PayPal and pay
the bill that you submitted. So once you receive notice of a ShopSite order you
would bill the shopper's email address for order total.

I have it set up as another payment option. You can visit the site
www.beautycafe.com to see how ours works! The customer appears to go through
the checkout process. they are given a final total and an email address to
send payment to. I've gotten one receipt so far that actually indicate
paypal payment and we knew what it was for. I do hope that eventually it
will be a seemless integration though because I for one do a great deal of
business with people paying through PayPal.
