v4.X - validate form input for cart options

Postby Rex » Thu Aug 01, 2002 11:40 am

When the customer makes an order with options like size, color surcharge
etc, the title of the selection box is what is selected by default and the
entire order can be made with selecting the option. These are mandatory
options. How can I fix this?

You could make your first option "Select Size" or "Select Color" but
you will still end up with orders coming in for Short Sleeve Jean
Shirt -- Select Color -- Medium. I have stock email messages in
StoneEdge Order Manager that invites them to make the change. In
fact, here is the message:

Hi Ryan,

Thank you for your order! One or more of your items
gave you color or metal choices which you did not make.
You'll notice a "Select Color", "Select Top Plate" or
"Select Bottom Plate" below. These are made to order
items and before we can move forward, we need a
reply to this email with the selection you desire.

If you see "Select Top Plate", your choices are Brass,
Gold, Copper, Nickel/Silver. If there is a Select Back
Plate", Black, White, Ivory, or Chrome is available.

Thank you. We look forward to hearing from you so
we can process your order and get your switchplate
made.

Rex, yes you can force them to make a selection by adding ;n after the first
selection in 6.1. Don't go to all the trouble of adding another software
package for something that minor.

That will work. But I would rather get it right the first time.
If this is the only way to deal with the problem. Can anyone tell me if
this needed feature is added to version 6.x?

Thanks

Rex,

Not just any 6.x, it must be 6.1 or greater, and I believe it must be
ShopSite Pro as well. To see the list of new features in v6.1 go to:
http://www.shopsite.com/help/6.1/en-US/ ... tures.html

There are links at the bottom of that page to take you to the list of new
features in v6.0 and from that page there is a link to the list of features
added in v5, etc.

P.S. on the 6.1 new features page this feature is listed as "Require a
Selection in Order Options".
