hi,

We have a ShopSite store. We would like to change our storeID. Is this
possible? When we origially setup our account with our web hosting
provider, they used our account name, which we aren't crazy about. Is
it possible to change this without having any problems?

No, it would cause lots of problems. Besides, the shoppers don't care or see
what your storeID is, so why does it matter?

Actually, they can see it in the URL string. And if our Store ID didn't
show up in the URL as items are added to the cart, and our ID wasn't
schoolho, I wouldn't mind. How will it screw things up? The way I have
been looking at it, a couple of mods in the ISP settings and it should
work just fine, or am I missing something.

1) If you upgrade to at least v5, then any new shopping cart URL's that ShopSite
generates will have the storeid encrypted.

2) The storeid is used for many things. If you change your storeid, even if you
change all the right files, get a new auth file for ShopSite, change all of your
URL's etc, you would no longer be able to see your old orders.

If you did do this, some of the things you would need to change are:

Need a new .auth (they cannot just be modified or renamed)
Names of [storeid].auth and [storeid].aa files would have to change, along with
the names of all symlinks to those files.
All of your shopping cart links would have to change, including Order and View
Cart buttons and Associate links.
You would have to change the htpasswd file to reflect the new storeid as the new
login id.

These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head, there are
probably more.
