PayPal description

Is there still no way to send the individual product description to pay pal's receipt in the latest version of shop site pro? If not, are there any workarounds?

This is from an old post in 2008.
The order description you are referring to is just to let the shopper know what store they ordered from.

There is no way to send individual product descriptions to PayPal since they are just the payment method not generating the entire receipt for the order only the total, tax and shipping are sent to PayPal.

There is currently no way to include the list of products in the order info sent to PayPal.

There isn't. However, it sounds like you may be using PayPal Standard for your order processing. PayPal uses PayPal Express as the upgrade to PayPal Standard. With PayPal Express, a customer goes to your ShopSite shopping cart, chooses to checkout and is sent to PayPal to login. Once they login, they are returned to your ShopSite shopping cart with either address information from PayPal already filled in. With this type of PayPal integration, since the customer is returned to your ShopSite shopping cart pages before they complete the checkout process, they can easily review their order information before finalizing their payment.

Hi, I am entering this thread 2 years after the latest post to see if there has been any change to this lack of functionality. Is Shopsite still unable to send the name of the product to Paypal in the "order description"?

Yes, my client is using PP Express, SS Pro 12 r2.1

Please advise!

There is a new 'Send Line Item Detail to PayPal Express' option in the PayPal Express Checkout settings in ShopSite 12, check it out.

Thank you for the reply. I have that option checked, but still only the "order description displayed by Pay Pal" appears.

I could send you a screen shot if that helps... but likely not till Thursday.

There are some more complex cart calculations that aren't supported by PayPal's API for sending the line item details. So if there is anything like a coupon, gift certificate, cart volume discount, or surcharge in the order then the line item detail may not be able to be sent.
