Google site map, how to biuld without Html marker

Postby MServitus » Thu Apr 26, 2012 1:34 pm

Shopsite 11 has a routine to build a google site map, but it requires a google html file that it can write to a directory for google to read to confirm authenticity.
But my web site was authenticated by google long ago using googles OTHER authentication method, a unique metatag to writing into an existing file.
Google webmaster will not give me a new authentication 'cause I'm already known. I should be able to take the unique string google gave me and insert it into YOUR routine and allow the map to be build. But you only support the html method.
Can I force your system to give me a sitemap without the html.?? Can I trick it into using the unique string??

If you've already authenticated your site in Google Webmaster Tools, then you don't really have to worry about that part, you can just put any html filename you want in the 'Google Site Verification File' field, like 'BlahBlahBlah.html'. Just make sure it's a nonsense name, not a filename that already exists or that you would ever want to use for a real page.
