Authorize for one product but capture for another?

Most of my products ship immediately and I authorize and capture credit card information on order. What do I do if I want to take pre-orders for a product that won't ship until later? I want to authorize the card, but not charge it.

Is there a way to do that on a product-by-product basis?

I would like to set up a product in my store where I accept a credit card and authorize it, but don't charge it. I can do that on a global level through the payment setup, but can I vary it by product?

I am running ShopSite® Pro 10 sp2 r2

There is no way built into ShopSite to allow some products to be billed when the order is placed and others to only be authorized.

The only thing I can think that you could do for products that are pre-order is to put a message on the product that it is a preorder and ask the shopper to contact you directly for payment options.
