HTML not being recognized

Postby malljess » Fri Nov 25, 2011 6:49 am

When I place HTML script (e.g., bold, <BR>) in the product description box on the products page it is not recognized on the results page. The more info html info is recognized. Also the number of characters in the description on the results page does not change. The text does change. I thought it may have been some style tags added in the DEFINE PRODUCTS section of the product template - but still not work. Any thoughts why the html not being recognized?

Since you mention "results page" a couple of times, I assume you are talking about search results pages?

The number of characters that display in a product description on a search results page is configured on Preferences >Search Settings > Search layout in the field Maximum number of characters displayed for the product description:.

Since the text will be truncated on the search results page it may be that the ending html tags are being stripped when the page is generated so the attributes aren't complete. Most of the fields in the ShopSite templates have css styles applied to them so using html tags may also be overridden by the style.

We would need to see a page to know more about why the text isn't displaying like you think it should.
