Upgrade to V11 and Google Product Search not accepted

Postby hammer » Tue Oct 25, 2011 2:02 pm

Hello,

I just completed upgrading on Windows Server 2003 from v10 to v11, and now Google Product Search feed has failed. I can upload the file, but Google when not insert any of the products and is telling me that 130 of 130 products have errors, so I end up with 0 products.

Anyone have any idea what has changed? Google accepted by feed just fine while using v10, with all products inserted.

Any guidance appreciated.

Upgrading to 11 had nothing to do with the feed failing now. This was a change implement by Google in September. See the Kbase article at http://support.shopsite.com/KBase/questions/2539
for suggestions on how to work around the problem.

Note that ShopSite 11sp1 was recently released on Linux and will be released on FreeBSD and Windows shortly. It contains additional functionality for the Google requirements for clothing.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for the reply. Per your information, I went ahead and added the extra field for availability and did the global edit for in stock. I doubled checked all other required fields to make sure they were set up, i.e.

condition
availabilty
price
brand
description
mpn
product type
google product categroy (as an extra field)

and they are all set up. I checked and the last successful submission I had with Shopsite 10 sp2 (Windows server) was on 10/12/2011 when the froogle feed was submitted with nor errors for 115 products.

Tried three times today, and all the froogle feed is created an uploaded, but no products are inserted. 0 -115

Google Feed Status Details indicates I am missing the following required information for all 115 products:

Condition
availability
price
brand
description
mpn
google_product_category
imagelink
product type

I can e-mail you a copy of the froogle feed file if that would help figure out what is happening.

What version is your store currently? Go to the backoffice, click on the ShopSite image at the top - left of the navbar and in the footer there should be some text something like "ShopSite® Pro 11 sp1, StoreID: jimsp1".

Did you create appropriate attribute names for all of the extra product fields you are using for Google feed on the Preferences > Extra Fields screen?

Did you go to Merchandising > Google Services >Product Search > Configure and check all the Extra fields that will be used for Google feed?

Did you name the attributes exactly as Google requires, i.e. "availability" and not "Availability", since the names are case sensitive.

You can view what was actually sent to Google by going to Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search and click the Feed Last Submitted: date which is link. On that screen there will be a link near the top that says "Click here to view the original datafeed" . Are the attributes you enabled shown in the xml?

Hello Jim,

Thank you again for the reply. I am running ShopSite Pro v11 r1.1. for Windows Server 2003

I did successfully create the attribute names in Preferences > extra fields

I did go to Google Services > Product Search and configure the Extra fields for use in Google feed.

The syntax for extra field attributes match what is required, i.e. availability vs. Availability.

I downloaded from Google the file that was created when I uploaded the froogle_feed.xml file. Here is what I found:

Attributes in file:
mpn
condition
availability
price
Brand
google_product_category

Attributes not in file:
description
image link
product type

(please note: I checked against froogle-feed.xml file before uploading and the attributes are also found/missing as per the google download. In other words, same in, same out)
------------------------------

Details from Google on Missing Attributes from froogle_feed.xml for all 115 products
---------------------------------------
condition error missing
availability error missing
price error missing
brand warning missing
description warning missing
mpn warning missing
google_product_category warning missing
image link warning missing
product type warning missing

------------------------------------------------

The file One thing I did notice on Google for the froogle_feed.xml set up for uploading is that there are various settings. Google asks;

format
encoding
delimiter
quoted fields yes/no

what should these be set at for this file?

Regarding these attributes not in file:
description -- What do you have configured for this on Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure > Description
image link -- What do you have configured for this on Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure >Image
product type -- What do you have configured for this on Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure > Product type.

Does your product actually have anything in the fields that you have configured to be sent for those values? If they are blank ShopSite will not send them because Google won't accept blank data.

Regarding these format, encoding, delimiter, quoted fields yes/no
Those look like attributes of a text file not an xml file. All those things are specified in the header section of the xml file or in the data itself. What is the url to the page on Google where you saw those setting? I'll take a look at it and see what it is trying to say.

Hello Jim,

The url for the google setting is the Merchant Center > Data feeds using the edit button here:

http://www.google.com/merchants/bulkuploads click edit

http://www.google.com/merchants/updatefeed

---------------------------------------------------------
All the problem attributes have data in them.

Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure > Description Set to drop down "Product Description"

image link -- What do you have configured for this on Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure >Image Set to "Product"

product type -- What do you have configured for this on Merchandising > Google Services > Product Search > Configure > Product type Set to "Google Product Search (product type) which is filled in for all products.

My Google account has googlebase for the Format and Autodetect for the other fields and Quoted Fields is set to Yes. I believe these are all the default settings.

Re: Upgrade to V11 and Google Product Search not accepted

Postby TheEveningStore » Fri Jul 13, 2012 5:20 am

I have the exact same problem with ShopSite® Pro 10 sp2 r2.4

My feed is accepted, 93 products. But mpn and google-product-category are missing.

I see from this thread that there might be a way to configure this using spare fields. Haven't tried it yet.

We are the mfr so the mpn should simply be our style#.

The google-product-category is their taxonomic listing and that is very important for us as we sell evening gowns. In examining their warning (see below) SS is putting the data for this into product_type instead of google-product-category. The product_type is free-form as I recall while the category must exactly match the available google listings.

Any advice?

Chris

Chris,

If you can upgrade to the latest version (11 SP2r3), then these new fields will be available for each product under "Edit Product Info".

If you cannot or do not want to upgrade, then you would have to use extra product fields to add these values. We have a blog post about it at:

http://www.lexiconn.com/blog/2010/08/new-google-product-search-requirements/
