Product Names in Cart

I would like to make it easier to choose groups of the same product types for power editing. By adding a prefix to the product name, SS would sort them alphabetically when i view ALL products, and all would work great. The problem is that the name of the product is exactly what is shown in the shipping cart, and it looks funky with prefixes added.

Is there a way to:
1 - use another field to tell SS what name to add to the cart?
2 - sort products and still view them all?

I guess I could use an extra product field for this, and then search based on that field... until human error comes into play and someone misspells something.

How is the best way to handle this?

I would imagine that this is a very big deal for stores with thousands of products... any help on this would be awesome. Thanks.
