no digital download message or gift certificate

When a customer purchases a digital download product, they get a receipt email. They're supposed to get a download email also, with a download link, but that's not working any more. It was working, but either I did something, or tech support at Globat, my ISP, did something, and the download email stopped working. Same problem with gift certificates. The purchaser gets a receipt email, but the gc email isn't sent.

Globat tech support can't figure out how to solve the problem. Anybody have any ideas? I've looked through the ShopSite back end for something that would turn that feature on/off, but I can't find anything.

Digital downloads never sends an automatic email with just the download link. The link is configured by the merchant to either be on the Thank You screen, in the order receipt or manually sent by the merchant from the orders screen.

Gift Certificates can be configured to be automatically sent once the order is finalized or to be sent when the merchant processes the order.

Check your settings under Commerce Setup > Digital Downloads > configure to see how you have digital download links configured.

Check your settings under Merchandising > Gift Certificates > Configure to see if you have it configured to automatically send the emails when an order is finalized.

The actual email sending process is the same for order receipts as for any other email sent by ShopSite so if one email is getting sent all should be sent. You may want to check your email host to see if there is some type of spam filtering on that is perhaps blocking some emails.

I found the link for the gift certificates, to make them automatic. Thanks for pointing that out.

Regarding the download information, there was an email being sent automatically for a few days, and then it stopped. The header is "Product Download Information," and it included the filename of the download, a link to download it, and the URL of my store. I add some important information about downloading and installation, on the Configure Digital Downloads screen in the "Message text when sending download keys to customer:" field. Somehow or other that was being sent automatically when the product was purchased - I wasn't doing it manually. A mystery...
