Super Beginner Question

Postby pauljcarter » Mon Nov 29, 2010 6:21 pm

I am very new to creating a website with shopsite (or any website for that matter). I just want to sell one product. The creation that I have fumbled through looks as lame as can be. I can't seem to upload and utilize any pdf's. Can anyone help?

You can upload pdf files to the media directory just like you would an image. Then to display the image on your page you would create a link to the file like this
<a href="http://richardnixonsoutherncalifornia.com/media/pdfFileName">Text You Want the Shopper to see</a>
You would replace the pdfFileName with the name of the pdf file you uploaded including the .pdf.
You would replace the "Text You Want the Shopper to see" with some description of the pdf file or something like Click Here to Download (view) PDF file.

You would then put the link in one of the text fields for the page you want the pdf to be available from.

Your site looks quite plain. Have you tried using one of the ShopSite provided themes that can be found under Preferences > Themes?

Note. You should never put your full email address in a forum post or you will be asking to get spam. Spammers have programs that scan forums for email addresses on a regular basis and they build lists that are then sold to other spammers. I recommend that you edit your post and remove your email. If you don't know how and would like it removed reply to this post and I'll remove if for you. If you want to include an email address you can disguise it by separating the words and typing at for the @ sign so something like "myemail at domain.com" or use other characthers like = or _ instead of the spaces.
