Sub categories, tree navigation? Howto?

I have searched the forum and I honestly do not understand how you create sub categories.
I understand that you create a page, and then another child page, but it is not really working in the navigation.
I need to create a tree navigation, and the menu must stay visible. Right now the previous parent navigation disappears when clicking the child page.

Maybe I am just really stupid. I hope I am, because then there is still hope!

You need to assign the same navigation to all pages. If you are using ShopSite PRO or Manager version 10 sp1 or later there is an option to create such a menu under Preferences > Navigation. If you have a different version you can create the menu and copy it to the page template that you are using, insert it in a text field that displays where you want the navigation, or use the normal page links feature by including links to all of the other pages on each page.
