Aloha and mahalo for helping a newbie!

I added Twitter to my website, www.bigmanhawaii.com. In doing so, it not only added the icon, but a white bar at the top of the page (on every page that the icon was added). Where can i make the necessary edit so that the white bar no longer appears.

My second question is i tried to add the global nav to the website. However, i am unclear as to the procedure. I clicked on configure, than save page, then publish site, however nothing happens! Normally when you click on publish site it shows you a status and text of the update process. Nothing appears! than, certain links no longer functions, and the only way to correct the issue is to go back to navigation, turn off, then publish. funny thing in doing so, it also reverts to an older version of the website (certain pages).

Finally, where can i edit the more info pages so that i can control the page width?

Did you modify the template at all?

It is inserting the Twitter link right at the top of the page code. The white bar is occurring because the Twitter graphic is pushing the masthead with the blue background further down the page.

If you really want the Twitter link up in that location, it should be inside the masthead div so it at least gets the blue background and doesn't cause the white bar.

Chris-

Thanks for your reply. No I did not make any changes to the template with regards to the twitter icon. I only used the script that was provided by shopsite to add the icon. had no option as to where on the page. I imagine i can move it but i need the correct file so that it will be made globally across the website..

I looked at the template code and couldn't see a way to fix the problem. There is no style assigned to the <td> that the Twitter image is place in so it uses the page body background color which is white. I have logged this for an engineer to look at for a future release.

I checked several themes and it looks like this is only happening on the gradient theme, which is what you are using. So you might see if one of the other themes would work for you and switch to that theme.

Mahalo Jim for your reply.

Couldn't i just place the icon somewhere else? am i restricted to only placing in on the top bar? or is that a function based on the theme i am using. Also, do you have any suggestions for my other two issues?

1. to control the page width of the More Info Page
2. Global Navigation..can't seem to get it to work...

Sure, you can move the Twitter icon. You'd just have to edit the Gradient page template and put the code where you want it.

As for Page Width, that should be controllable via a CSS file.

The "body" tag on More Info pages has a width of 90% set. The "body" tag on main product pages seems to be set at "65%."

I'm not sure why the Global Nav isn't working. Under Preferences--Navigation, do you have pages/menus assigned? Under Preferences--Navigation--Configure--is the box checked for "Enable Page Menu Feature"?

Yes, you could copy the Twitter code and place it in a text field and it would display where ever that field displays.

The page width is probably controlled by a style sheet setting, so check the template and see what style sheet is being used and modify the width in the style sheet.

Global navigation requires you to create the navigation menu options under Preferences > Navigation. You create the menu items and sub menu items using the Add button. Use the Move option to reorder the submenu options under a main menu item.
see http://www.shopsite.com/help/10.2/en-US/sc/pro/navigation.html for help.

Again, thank you, both of you for your help! I will attempt to move the twitter icon and see if i can resolve that issue.

As to the global navigation, it tells me that it is not enabled and to click on configure. however when doing so, nothing gets updated and it hangs....than when i go back to the website, some of the page links no longer work! than to "Fix" it, i have to again go back to utilities, preferences, navigation, than disable global navigation.

We need a link to a page with the global navigation on it so we can see what is happening.

JIm-

Yes, using Firefox 3.6.11, when i click on configure , it opens another page to check enable page menu feature, and also to select a style for left most border. I do enable the feature, but leave the style blank. , than i click on save. At this point it goes back to the navigation main menu. do i select something here or click on publish? I tried only to publish (without selecting any menu) and at this point nothing happens. where normally it shows you what page is updated, etc, it just stays blank. than as i mentioned, some of my page links no longer works. only way to correct issue is to disable the feature. Please contact me directly stslivealoha@hawaii.rr.com and i can provide you the direct link.

Again, mahalo to you and chris from helping me out!

You have to create the navigation menu options before there is any thing to display. After you have gone to the Configure screen and checked the Enable box you are taken back to the Navigation screen with ----Menu ---- in a list box. You need to click the Add button, then enter the Menu item name, select a page that it will link to or enter a url or the View Cart URL option and Save. That will add the menu item to the list box. If you want to add another menu item at the same level as the first click on the ---- Menu --- line and click Add again and repeat the steps. If you want to create a sub menu off of one of the menu items you have created, click on that menu's name instead of the ---Menu --- and then click Add and repeat the steps to add that menu name, link etc. You can arrange the menu items at the same level using the Move Up and Move Down buttons, but you can't move a menu option from one level to another. Once you have all the menu's created you can click the Preview button to get an idea of what it will look like. If you do that you will see that the left most menu is missing the left border, That is the border that is being referred to on the Configure screen "Style for left most border" so you can go back to the Configure screen and enter a style that completes that border if you need to.

Also, mahalo for the twitter idea. I was able to take care of it! However, I looked but i cannot find what css file or sst file controls the more info page width. I thought it was the gradient1.mi.css but i could find no reference to page width. Am i missing something?
