Can we make generic payment fields not required?

I am trying to accept our in-house gift cards as a payment option on Shopsite. I was using the "Generic Payment" option. We process payments manually. The fields I have are,

1> Enter Gift Card Number
2> If gift card does not cover balance, enter credit card number for the rest of the balance:
3> Enter credit card expiration date:
4> Enter CVV

When I try to process a payment assuming the user DOES have enough on their gift card to cover the balance. I get an error message because the last three fields are empty. (I'm guessing they are set to required.)

Is there any way to make them not required - or is there a better way that I could do this?

Add a comment stating that if the gift card covers the cost to enter 0's for the other fields.

I assume that you have a method to enter the payment info into your payment gateway account manually? No validation will be done on the data like is done for regular ShopSite credit card payment methods.
