Adding Free Gift With Purchase

I want to add a confirmation of a FREE Gift with every order that equals $250 (not including shipping).

Is there someway I can do this in Shopsite so my customer sees they are getting the gift, or a way they can easily add it if they wish? I can only think to add the product with a zero cost and make them add it to their cart, but there would not be a check of the dollar value of the cart except manually.

There is a rewards feature which allows you to provide a free product when x number of products have been purchased. This wouldn't be exactly 250, but you could get an approximate where sometimes it would be more and sometimes it would be less.

Another option would be to setup a coupon which is called something like "free gift on orders over $250." Then you could set that up as a link on your website... "Click here for your free gift on orders over $250." This would add the coupon to the cart, but would only show that the coupon is applied if their subtotal is over $250. You could optionally have them add the specific product to the cart, but either way, at least their cart and order will show that the coupon is applied when they checkout.
