I don't need it to calculate in that currency, just display on the page instead of a $ sign.

Thanks.

What did you put in the currency.dat file for the currency symbol? Did you use the actual character, or the & HTML entity that represents that character? Try:

[ampersand]#402;

(replace [ampersand] with the & symbol)

Also, what character encoding is your page using?

I was using a different HTML code, but for the sake of commonness, I changed it to yours. I had been using charset=iso-8859-1 and I switched it to charset=utf-8 and it is still happening.

Did you look at the source of the page to see what character is actually being used?

I edited the currency.dat file and edited the following value and it seems to work
#|ANG|Antillian Guilder||||
to
|ANG|Antillian Guilder|ƒ| -$##,###.##||

Note I removed the leading # to uncomment the option then added the currency symbol ƒ using & # 1 3 1 ; without the spaces and the format string -$##,###.##

on the store page the product price looks like
Price: ƒ1.00

I was using the exact same syntax... and still am and the live prices still don't show properly. I viewed the source and this is the character in the source . The backend still looks good... just not the front end.

When I set my browser to use the iso-8858-1 charset Then I see the f character but if I have it at utf-8 I see the question mark symbol.

Like Jim, I can see the raw character when the page is iso-8858-1, however not when UTF-8.

But it looks like when you put the & 131; HTML entity in the currency.dat file and then select it in the Locale menu, what actually gets saved to the 'currency:' token in the store's main [login_name].aa file is the raw character, not the & 131; HTML entity. So try editing the [login_name].aa file itself and replace the raw character with the & 131; HTML entity, save it, then regenerate your pages.

Don't ask me what happened, but after I downloaded the ****.aa file and looked to edit it, the ƒ was in there... and my store! Looks like the 67th time is the charm.

Thanks to you all. Something you said made it work... who knows what. BTW, it works in UTF-8 or iso-8858-1
