Deleted Products showing as "[deleted record]"

The first 2 pages have products, but the second 2 are blank. In the backend, when I select the page, then Arrange Items, I see about 15 items list as "[deleted record]".

About once a month, my client deletes all the products in the backend, then uploads a new product database. The products that are showing as "[deleted record]" are product that he removed from the database.

How do we completely delete these product records?

Products are only marked to be deleted when you delete them. In order to remove the products permanently you need to publish the store. So when the products are deleted on the monthly basis you should publish the store afterward to actually remove the [deleted record] status. This shouldn't take long to do since there will be no product to publish pages for.

I deleted all the products, then published. On the generation screen, I got several errors looking like this:

Generating Page [848:Glass Cleaners]... Product Record: 23426 status is not OK
Product Record: 23430 status is not OK
Product Record: 23432 status is not OK
Product Record: 23434 status is not OK
Product Record: 23449 status is not OK
Product Record: 23472 status is not OK

I then uploaded the new database and got the same error on the generation page. I still have the same issue as before.

Any idea how to truly delete these products? What am I missing?

After you have logged in to your store replace the "start.cgi" part of the url with emitfix.cgi and then run it. That should clear up the missing products issue.

I would also recommend that you upgrade your 4 year old store from the 8.0.2 version to the newest version ShopSite 10sp1. You can see a list of the many enhancements between those versions at
