Shopsite/Authorize.net Advanced Fraud Detection Suite

Postby Brett » Mon Mar 08, 2010 10:46 am

I have tried enabling certain features in Authorize.net's Advanced Fraud Detection Suite and have been getting errors when trying to purchase. Does Shopsite support Authorize.net's holding of transactions until approved?

The only type of transactions that ShopSite handles are "Authorize and Capture (Sale)" in which the funds are immediately captured and "Authorize Only" in which a hold is placed on the card for the amount of the transaction but the funds are not captured until the merchant does a billing of the transaction.

So I'm not sure if the second option is what you are referring to or if there is another option in the Authorize.net control panel.

Yes, that is the option I meant. Every time a transaction is attempted with the "Authorize Only" feature enabled, there is a payment error in the shopping cart and the order is not processed. Is there an option in Shopsite that needs to be enabled for this feature to work?

It sounds like one or more of the Anet fraud rules is triggering and Anet isn't set to allow the authorization to proceed.

Try setting Anet so it sends an email when it flags a transaction but it allows the authorization to proceed. (Or check the quarantined transactions to see which rule(s) is/are causing the failure.)

[Edit] You can also set more granular rules for specific triggers so some will quarantine the transaction and others will allow the authorization.

You can turn on more error details in the shopping cart by going to Commerce Setup > Payment > and in the Credit Card Processing - Processor section click the Configure Processor and check the box for Display Error Details

This will display all the info coming back from Authorize.net when an error occurs in the checkout process. You can then use that information to contact Authorize.net to see what the error codes mean.

I emailed lexiconn and they said Shopsite is not yet fully compatible with the advanced fraud detection suite. ShopSite will see any fraud filter as a declined response, and the orders cannot be completed. You can use the basic filters at Auth.net (AVS settings) to determine if orders should be accepted or declined.

Thanks for the replies. That's what I figured. I kept getting a generic error with AFDS enabled. I'll have to try something else.

Thanks again.
