Cannot get ShopSite to use custom button images

I'm trying to replace the "Add to Cart" and "View Cart" buttons that are in product descriptions. I go to the Preferences->Store Text->Store Pages section and have tried selecting a directory image I uploaded or typing in a URL to a hosted image. Both procedures result in nothing changing. It's extremely weird because the custom buttons will appear in the Merchandising->OrderAnywhere section when I click Show Selected Links. However, they just will NOT appear on the actual store. What could possibly be causing this?

What type of store do you have, Pro, Manager or Starter?
What Version of ShopSite. 8, 9, 10, 10sp1?
You can find both of those in the footer of the main backoffice screen when you click on the ShopSite tab in the navbar.

Have you republished your store? The pages are static so unless you publish the pages won't be updated to the new image.

Are you using ShopSite generated Pages or are you using the Order AnyWhere feature and pasting the links on pages you create outside of ShopSite?

If you are using the Order AnyWhere feature you will need to modify your pages to specify the correct image for all the add and view cart links.
