Coupon Code with Weight

We have setup coupon codes and when our customers purchase over a certain amount they qualify for some promo items. They enter a coupon code to receive these.

These promo items have weight to them (free bottle of 'this' or 'that')

Is there a way to add the weight of these 'promo items' which are within the coupon code that a customer enters into the cart.

When these promo items are added to a customers order, this makes the final weight incorrect (as compaired to the 'packing slip' total weight).

Not sure if this can be done or not.

Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

The coupon code is just a coupon it isn't for a product so no weight can be added for it. If you require the shopper to select a product and add it to the cart and then put in the coupon code the weight could be assigned to the product that they need to add.
