Is check out page secure?

Postby jay97041p » Fri Jan 29, 2010 10:19 pm

Is the check out page secure? If so, are there any certificate logos, pad locks or statements that can be pasted on the site to make my customers feel more secure?

Thanks!

Your host should have configured your checkout page to be secure. If you do not have your own SSL certificate, your host should provide a shared SSL certificate that the checkout uses. You should ask your host if they provide any security seals for the shared SSL certificate.

You can also display the ShopSite secure icon:
Orders -> Security -> Security Status

Fat Cow told me I didn't need an ssl certificate for my shop site check out. But then again, they have told me lots of stuff that was not true. When you click on "checkout" a notice pops up that says something like "you are about to view content via a secure connection." This may be a dumb question but based on this, would you say my shop site checkout page is secure?

Does the url of the page where the shopper enters their billing and shipping address and payment information start with http or https? if it is https then it should be secure.
